About

My interest in chemically-safe housing grew over a number of years while living with my former partner who has chemical and environmental sensitivities. Her and I lived in a few different rentals together and each time we re-discovered how difficult it is to find a truly safe home that is free of mold, dusty carpets, wireless signals and out-gassing paints. In shared houses, we also struggled with the products used by our housemates, such as perfumes, scented laundry detergents, microwaves and pesticides. Her challenges, which became my challenges as well, educated me about the harmful nature of our living environments.

Having become thoroughly frustrated and worn out with not having a safe home, I built us a house on wheels using the healthiest materials I could find at the time

Noticing the huge difference this made for us, and realizing the huge need for safe housing out there, I felt called to create Safe Shelters, a business providing consultation and construction services for those interested in chemically-safe housing.
